I've been "daily" driving nixos on my personal laptop. I'm using flakes and homemanager. Homemanager is great as you can sync home profiles over os's like Linux, MacOS and WSL2 as well as a synced dotfiles if you use git to version control. Gnome settings is super easy to keep extensions and config declared. This has brought the best modularity to crafting your own distro. It's easy to change out things like gnome for kde.

Your video convinced me to try out TrueNAS scale. All I can say is it’s truly amazing as a NAS. It’s not so good at running apps, but hey, they video about choosing a NAS, not an app server . Am I right? I run apps on PCs, VPS, and rpi’s , and I let the NAS specialize in NAS’ing.

I’ve stated this on other Garuda videos; this is the Linux version to help people cast off the slavery yoke that is Windows. A complete Linux noob can start with Garuda and “feel” like Windows. This gives time to learn Linux without being frustrated how to make certain things happen or install them. The number one reason I distro hopped years ago before forcing myself to actually install Arch the Arch way, and start learning from a bare bones install was I could see videos of what was possible in Linux with no way of getting there myself. I’m no Linux pro, I’m more of an intermediate; and Garuda has things I never knew about. I was never interested in emulators, so I had no idea so many were out there. I had issues in the beginning of my Linux journey to get Virt working properly. In Garuda, it’s a checkbox and apply. Now, here’s the real Linux problem, a lot of what I’ve said is going to get ridiculed by Linux aficionados and l33t g33k5. This drives more people away, being talked down to for not knowing something. Garuda removes that by making it easy to get started. Learning can come later. And later, maybe someone will move to pure Arch like I did for a time in a dual boot with Windows 10. Which is my point. Linux needs to be a replacement for Windows, and Garuda is as close as I’ve seen to accomplishing this. I know, I know - there’s 6,219 other distros out there and one may be even better. But I do not have the time or patience to keep distro hopping. 100 people claim this is great and 101 will find a reason to hate it… such is the Linux community.

Problem installing Fedora I did download Fedora Checksum and this always appears gpgv: can't open '*-CHECKSUM': No such file or directory, The major problem I have find with Fedora is that I cannot ask anyone in their page, and I tried to sing up, but they did not allowed me to, so, I am very disappointed, I will keep using Linux Mint.

so i had to force restart because bit-locker thought it was a boot virus so i had to type the password now here is the thing. when i encrypted the drive it never asked me for a pass so i had nothing to do but boot back to windows. any fixes?

Resolve is on my dual boot pc, the file size is way to BIG! Fusion is quite different, does have apractical application, it's like learning a foreign language! But, have used Kdenlive for years and its quick and just works! It's fun to play with Resolve, the free version file formats are a drag, maybe one day Resolve might work on my Ubunto distro! For now Kdenlive is my favorite editor!

As a new Linux user I followed this video but I think you need to update it because in 2024 your Codecs thing doesn't work and your DNS thing made my whole internet super-slow. Plus I had no 'Software center' on mine at all. I tried Fedora with Plasma 6. I'll be removing it. It's too glitchy and complicated. Shame though cuz it is real pretty. Thanks anyway.

Resolve is a good video editor, I just wish the free version didn't have limits on what video effects you can use, and instead only limit the features that are only useful to pros such as advanced compositing (I'd say more than 6 nodes) and so on.

Forget Windows 11 you guys gotta check this distro out it's got EVERYTHING even a cool Hyprland desktop I wish Garuda improved to the point to where we won't NEED Arch Linux in the future it's basically a preinstalled version of Arch Linux I'm in love with the Garuda distro if someone was in my house and knew how to install ProtonVPN on it I'd kiss your feet! I loved Nobara, but I just switched to regular Fedora. I just wanted to learn Fedora from the beginning. Nobara was my first distro, as someone who's only recently moved to Linux from Windows. Everything works, Nvidia GPU driver updater, system updater, Proton-GE, etc. I was a bit intimidated by the word "immutable," in retrospect it doesn't matter as much. As soon as Nobara 40 comes out I might switch

Love the changes, but will never understand why they want a dock at the bottom and an action bar at the top. for the love of god pick one or the other. applications should be on the dock, same for workspaces being an option in the dock or settings. they dont need to hang out at the top of my screen. All of the other options on the top middle/right can live in a nice bubble on the bottom right of the screen.

Tempted to use blendOS but distrobox probably will do all their job just fine

lookup ventoy and iventoy. ventoy is one of (if not the) best usb tool for booting. Its cousin iventoy is great for pxe boot.

I used to use PiHole till I recently switched to pfsense pfblockerNG. It gives me total control of what I want. Granted it got tons load of options but once you set it up not much you needed to do.
